Inserts, also called boosters, are often used for pocket diapers or extra absorption in other diapers. Several types of inserts are available from different fabrics. Every depositor has its advantages and disadvantages. The more layers an insert has, the better the absorption.
Microfibre pad
The big advantage of microfibre inserts is that they absorb moisture quickly, but can retain less moisture than the other inserts. The microfibre inserts are therefore often used for younger children or in combination with other inserts, where the microfibre is placed on top.
Bamboo charcoal insert
The microfibre layers that sit between the outer layers of the bamboo carbon absorb the urine, while the outside of the bamboo carbon drains the urine to keep your child dry, The bamboo charcoal fabric contains antibacterial properties that help prevent diaper rash and odor build-up in the fabric.
Bamboo insert
The bamboo fiber is an extremely absorbent material that is also naturally resistant to bacterial growth. This makes bamboo an excellent choice as a pocket diaper insert. The antibacterial properties prevent the accumulation of unpleasant odors and keep your inserts clean. The bamboo inserts absorb less quickly than, for example, microfibre. Use the bamboo inserts in combination with other inserts such as the bamboo charcoal or microfibre boosters. Note the bamboo insert under the microfiber inserts.
Hemp
Hemp is a natural substance known for its incredibly absorbent and anti-fungal properties. While it may not absorb as quickly as microfibre or other fabrics, it will absorb much more. This property makes hemp a great insert to add to your washable diapers. For example, use a hemp pad under a microfibre or bamboo pad. This gives a maximum absorption capacity; the first pad can absorb quickly, allowing the hemp pad to absorb the remaining moisture, so you don't have to leak.
Prefold insert
Prefold pads are made from unbleached cotton muslin fabric. Prefold inserts can be used in one shorts and are therefore ideal for when you have a limited budget for buying washable diapers. The two outer parts are often made of a 4-layer absorbent cotton fabric and the middle part even consists of 6 layers.
