Books teach us everything. This is possible because of the information they provide us. Or help us improve or learn our language. At Kidzstore we think the development of your baby and child is important. The sooner you start reading to your little one the faster they will learn. It's also a great routine to get them to sleep.
The books we offer at Kidzstore are interactive. This through pictures that you can feel and through books that produce sound. A baby learns easily by imitating the sounds and recognizing pictures. Besides that reading with your child is good for the development of language, it is also great for your bond together. Reading often happens comfortably on the couch or in bed. They want to watch, point and participate. Your baby does not yet understand what you are saying and is not following the storyline. But unconsciously, they already save the words for later use. After a few months you will also notice that your child will show more interest in the books. Wanting to turn the pages yourself and imitate the sounds in the book, or the sounds you make.
The book is not important for a newborn. They don't really understand anything about it yet. But they already store the words. It is more important for a newborn that you read it. Your vote is most important here. From this they can relax and feel good. They will certainly not look into the book at this age. However, this does help in the bond between you and your baby.
From three months, your child can develop in wanting to turn the pages himself. They will also increasingly reach for the book. At these times it is nice to have an interactive book. Think of one that makes noise or contains pictures that can be felt. This only stimulates them more to participate. Choose a book with more pictures than text, but also with everyday objects.
The development is going fast at the moment. But shouldn't be pushed too much. Until this age it is still important to use simple books. Pictures should be clear and interesting to your child. You will notice that they give more reaction to one object than to another. Do not focus on the objects that do not interest them, but on the images that they already respond to. Use your funny voice, your hands and even your face. Point to the pictures when you name them so that your child can learn to recognize them. And let them babble, even though we don't understand anything about it yet, this only has positive effects later on.
There may finally be sentences in the book. It is recommended no more than 1 or 2 sentences per page. And be funny! The funnier and weirder you are while reading, the more fun your child will like. For example, consider imitating the animals you see in the book. Your child will love this. And before you know it, they are copying all the sounds themselves! Not only great for your toddler's development, but is sure to bring a lot of laughter. These are also the times when you can ask what kind of noise the dog makes. Or even ask where the elephant is hiding!
